In the field

So, Danie has made it safely to her reassignment,  Saint George Utah!  Despite what you may think she is very excited.   The assistant to her mission president is from Argentina so talking with him is fun for her.  For now she is actually going to be speaking english and probably working in the visitor's center.  Apparently it is the highest baptizing U.S. english speaking mission so she feels like there will be plenty of opportunity to share the gospel.  Danie is so excited to be in the field.  The interesting thing is that the rest of her district got sent to Ogden.  This is more interesting when you realize that Danie has a great deal of family history and ancestry in Saint George that she has never had the opportunity to experience, much of which is to do with the establishment of the church in that area.  So cool.
I am still struggling to master this blog thing, but following SHOULD be a few pictures from her experiences so far.
mail.jpgmail.jpgmail.jpgI don't know how I got these pictures on here.  Must be an Easter miracle.  As you can see, aside from a chocolate mustache which I don't know the significance of, Hermana Fairbanks is looking happy and well.  Hopefully I will be able to include any pictures she may send from Saint George, but for now I am just happy these appeared on the screen.  Greetings and Happy Easter from our sweet girl.

So the "grand adventure" has begun.  "Auntipoo" would be so proud.  Danie, Hermana Fairbanks, is set to leave the MTC on March 26th.  Trouble with visas means that she is scheduled to be reassigned for the time being.  No word yet on where.
Figuring out how to blog for Danie is an adventure in itself given my lack of computer literacy.  Hopefully she can forgive her old Mom for taking so long just to get this far.
So far, Danie has loved the MTC.  It really agrees with her, everything but the food that is.  Danie loves her companion who she says has such a great spirit and is a great blessing.  Danie is doing very well with the language and can't soak the experience up fast enough.  Her MTC president and wife are the grandparents of one of the primary children she helped teach while she was back at home, just the first of many "small world" experiences thus far.  You can imagine how many other sisters and elders Danie knows from pre-mission, who are sharing this time with her at the training center.  Everyone who jumped at the opportunity afforded by the new age change came flooding into the MTC the same week as Danie.  What an awesome time!  The place, I am sure is bursting at the seams with brothers, sisters, cousins and friends, who would otherwise have waited for birthdays to roll around before embarking on this tremendous service.   Danie looks forward to news from everyone and would really enjoy updates on her cousins who are also set to leave soon.  What a tremendous group of sister missionaries they will all be.  We are so proud of them and their desire to serve.  I know Danie is so grateful for the support of friends, family, and ward members.   Keep her in your prayers, and send her lots of letters.  I will try to keep updates of her mission coming.  Till now, a blog was just something else to clean up off the kitchen floor so this first post on Danie's behalf is a mission miracle.  This mission will be an education in oh so many ways.  Until next time, love to all from Hermana Fairbanks (via the Mom).
